FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Normally natural pesticides contain garlic-based ingredients or similar substances that generate an unpleasant odor. Does this also happen with PIguard?

No, PIguard does not contain any substance that can produce unpleasant odors; on the contrary, it is its active ingredients that give the product a pleasant fragrance.

Can I combine PIguard with any other antiparasitic such as those commonly used for fleas and ticks?

Of course! PIguard is a completely non-toxic product, unlike common synthetic products such as those based on pyrethroids. The active ingredients contained in PIguard offer a well-known and effective repellent action and, being of natural origin, do not increase the toxicity of common flea and tick antiparasitics with which it could be associated. Furthermore, it is widely demonstrated that Neem Oil carries out a significant growth inhibitor activity (IGR), acting on the immature forms of the main parasites and consequently enhancing the adulticidal activity of the antiparasitics with which it is associated.

Might administering Piguard every two weeks or weekly in higher risk situations be too “demanding” for the owner?

It is normal that applying a repellent product only once may be more convenient for an owner at first glance, but the subjective and external factors of the animal are imponderable and this makes it substantially impossible to determine until when real protection can be obtained, capable of significantly reducing the risk of contracting leishmaniasis. Regular and constant administration of a product should instead be seen as a greater guarantee of protection, since it avoids imponderable drops in effectiveness with consequent "window effects". In other words, the owner is more "responsible" and the animal is more and better protected.

Can I also use Piguard on puppies?

The principles present in Piguard, being of natural origin, do not present any contraindications and can be applied at any age. SLAIS Animal Health recommends its use for example in litters and in their environment (baskets, blankets etc..) where the spray formulation can also be useful and convenient.

Can the administration of Entero Active interfere with the glycemic balance of a diabetic patient if administered at the recommended doses for a prolonged period of time?

We can undoubtedly state that the use of Entero Active does not interfere with glycemic balance since the carbohydrates that are part of its composition are either used by the bacteria present or are indigestible carbohydrates. In both cases they do not interfere with the maintenance of normo-glycemia. The product can therefore be safely used in diabetic patients and indeed, thanks to its components, it could both improve insulin sensitivity and be used as an adjuvant to insulin therapy thanks to the catabolic-fermentative action on the cereals with which it is produced.
